COVID-19 Press Release - May 5, 2020
The Canmore Rotary Club Charitable Foundation launched the Rotary COVID -19 Relief Fund back on March 21st, 2020 in response to this unprecedented public health emergency which has adversely affected so many of our local families, most of our business community and placed vulnerable populations at higher risk.
On April 9th, we teamed up with the Banff Canmore Community Foundation and the Wim and Nancy Pauw Foundation to coordinate Bow Valley grantmaking. This collaboration provides a streamlined response for organizations in need. One online application avoids duplication of effort in grant writing. The Bow Valley Emergency Grant committee reviews applications weekly with decisions and funding usually completed within the week. The dollars just stretch further when we work together. Through on going consultation with local agencies, we continue to see, food security as the top priority. Some of the organizations that be been supported to date are: The Food Alliance, The Filipino Canadian Association, Bow Valley Learning Center and Bow Valley Specialized Transportation.
We invite charitable organizations and those partnered with a charitable organization TO APPLY at www.banffcanmore@org/in-this-together/
Although we are proudly working within coordinated effort of the Bow Valley Emergency Grant Committee, The Canmore Rotary Club Charitable Foundation (CRCCF) and the Rotary Club of Canmore (RCC) have funded other organizations independent of our collaboration with Banff Canmore Community Foundation (BCCF) and the Wim and Nancy Pauw Foundation (Pauw). In mid-April CRCCF donated $5000.00 to the Bow Valley Food Bank and $5000.00 from RCC annual community grants was funded to Food and Friends. Food and Friends is now serving up to 400 meals per week out of the Iron Goat with other inkind donations from local business. Today CRCCF presented a cheque for $10,000 to the Primary Care Network and The Good Food Box for the provision of subsidies for low income families buying low-cost healthy food, fresh fruits and vegetables complimenting the predominantly processed foods available from other sources.
The CRCCF and RCC would like to thank everyone in the Bow Valley who has supported the Rotary COVID -19 Relief Fund. Without that support we simply could not do the work we are doing to support current circumstances in the Bow Valley. Thank you also to Banff Canmore Community Foundation and the Wim and Nancy Pauw Foundation. This is a small group of well connected, community oriented and compassionate folks in the Bow Valley.
